Enterprise Integrations

Enterprise integrations encompass the array of strategies, techniques, and tools employed to link diverse software applications, systems, and data sets across the organization. Our main objective is to facilitate seamless connection among these disparate systems enhancing process efficiency and bolstering the reliability and accessibility of data.

Enterprise Integrations make it possible for Georgia Tech business leaders and users to access the right data exactly when they need it. This data access enhances operational excellence and helps leaders make the best possible decisions for the institution.

Requesting Integrations

Business partners with integration needs can request new integrations and/or changes/enhancements to existing integrations.

Enterprise Integration Request Flow:

  1. We have a detailed request intake and informational gathering process to start each new project on the best footing.
  2. We perform an extensive data requirements and validation process including data use approval from the data stewards of the relevant systems.
  3. Our Development of the integration includes cross-testing and a team centered approach to coding standards evaluation.
  4. Prior to Go-Live, we work with the requestor and analyst to ensure that the delivered data meets the requirements and needed accuracy for the project.
  5. Post Go-Live we provide cross training to every team member to ensure that any team member can assist with any issue.

Best Practices of Enterprise Integrations

We're committed to providing robust, efficient, and secure enterprise integrations. By adhering to these best practices, we ensure that our data serves as a solid foundation for our institution's growth and innovation. Here's how we maximize effectiveness, security, and performance.

Clear Objectives and Defined Requirements

We begin by clearly defining our integration goals and requirements, ensuring that every project is aligned with Georgia Tech's strategic objectives and operational needs.

Delivery Methodology

Our delivery model outlines clear roles and responsibilities, with strong leadership to guide the direction of projects and resolve any issues that arise, ensuring a cohesive approach to our integration efforts.

Data Stewardship

Our dedicated data stewards review and approve any requests for data usage, maintaining the highest levels of data quality and compliance. Also, we prioritize security and compliance, implementing advanced measures and ensuring all integrations adhere to relevant data protection regulations.

  • Comprehensive Testing Strategy
  • Unit Testing: We rigorously test individual components to confirm they meet our high standards.
  • Cross Testing: After unit testing is completed a second integration team member reviews and tests the work of the primary developer to ensure the integration functions as expected and the integration adheres to GT standards.
  • Integration Testing: We ensure that all interactions between components are smooth and error-free.
  • System Testing: The entire integrated system is tested to verify that it fulfills all our stringent requirements.
  • Performance Testing: We collaborate with vendors to conduct thorough performance tests, guaranteeing the system can handle peak loads efficiently. · User Acceptance Testing: Please click here to learn more about UAT testing process and procedures.

Deployment Approvals

All changes undergo a formal approval process, with a staged deployment strategy to minimize the impact on live systems and ensure a smooth transition.

Final approval for production release requires the completion and signature of this form.

Vendor Coordination

We work closely with vendors, ensuring all third-party systems maintain accurate and timely data from our internal source systems. We encourage open discussions with vendors from the beginning of projects so we make sure vendors can meet Georgia Tech requirements and are prepared to help with data validation and performance testing.

Detailed Documentation

We maintain comprehensive documentation of all aspects of our integrations, ensuring that information is always up-to-date and accessible for team members.

Error Handling and Logging

Our robust error handling and detailed logs are crucial for efficient troubleshooting and performance monitoring.

Enterprise Integration Support

In the realm of technology, we understand that glitches can occur unexpectedly. Thankfully, our Enterprise Integration Support team is here to promptly address any issues or configuring requests that may arise. For detailed guidance on seeking assistance, please refer to Section 2.1 above.
